Shiv Sena (UBT) MLA Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday echoed the Opposition’s call for a Special Session of Parliament to discuss Operation Sindoor, accusing the BJP of engaging in “dirty politics” over a national security issue.
“Yes, we are demanding a Special Session. While we are presenting a united front to the world to expose and dismantle Pakistan-based terrorism, BJP leaders are indulging in petty politics at home over Operation Sindoor,” Thackeray told reporters.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) leader also raised questions regarding the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack, asking if the attackers had been apprehended and implying there may be deeper links that need to be investigated.
“Where are the terrorists? Have they been caught? Have they infiltrated the BJP? These are important questions that need answers,” he said.
Thackeray also criticised the government’s approach to religious festivals, stating that it should stop issuing advisories and instead focus on pressing issues like farmer suicides and urban flooding.
“Why does the government keep instructing people to ‘save’ something during every festival? Let people celebrate in peace. The government should be out helping farmers who are dying by suicide or families whose homes are flooded — not interfering in festivals,” he added.
Meanwhile, INDIA bloc leaders met at Delhi’s Constitution Club on Tuesday to formally push for a Special Parliament Session. After the meeting, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut confirmed that 16 political parties had signed a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding the session.
“This letter is not ordinary. The Opposition represents the people’s voice. We want a dedicated session to debate and discuss everything that has happened recently in the country,” Raut stated.
The demand comes amid heightened political friction following the government’s international outreach through Operation Sindoor, aimed at countering global misinformation and reaffirming India’s stance on terrorism.
